Reading & Storytelling – A New Family Tradition

In July, we celebrated the wonderful strength and beauty of the Black Family. Let’s keep the spirit of the month long celebration alive and rededicate ourselves to our families and celebrate our connections.

We should connect through traditions,  create new foundations and build through activities that can be shared with each generation. One of the many ways families can come together to empower one another is by having a family reading and storytelling time – a space where everyone in the family can share their favorite literary works and most adored family stories and adventures.  Families that encourage reading and storytelling provide literacy skill building for young readers while enhancing the literacy skill development in all members of the family.

Building a family rich in heritage and rooted in strength is something we can strive to accomplish each day.  By engaging and encouraging literacy in our homes, families will develop a new tradition of knowledge sharing and success.

Share how building a knowledge sharing foundation has lead to success in your family.
